In addition to the focal points of an exhibition and conference, AUDE 2013 required organisation of a number of “smaller”, yet equally key elements; the evening dinners. Over the course of the conference Assured were tasked with organising three separate dinners, the first of which saw the showcasing of “A Taste of Warwickshire”.
Pitched as an informal welcoming for guests, the Sunday dinner was to allow delegates to settle in, network and prepare for the conference ahead. With these key objectives in mind, Assured decided upon a Farmer’s Market theme; whereby dinner would be served as a buffet, allowing guests to network in a relaxed environment.
To bring the event to life theming was key; the room was filled with market stalls, lined with bunting and topped with bespoke wooden crates. Traditional kitchen scales filled with fresh fruit and vegetables were used as centre pieces, while milk churns, hessian sacks and wooden wheels added to the theatre. As delegates were travelling from all over the UK and internationally, the opportunity was taken to showcase local produce. This contributed to the final name of “A Taste of Warwickshire”; highlights included Pure Gold ale from the local Purity Brewery and locally sourced beef and horseradish, lamb and mint and traditional Cumberland sausages (locally sourced)!
Entertainment was required, however, this had to be low-key and allow guests to voluntarily participate. During the buffet, jesters and a Shakespearean minstrel performed, reflecting the Warwickshire theme. In the lounge area, guests were welcomed to try their luck at a whole range of big boy’s toys, including giant scalextric, air hockey and pool.
From client and delegate feedback the evening was a huge success, more than hitting the objectives of allowing everyone to mingle in a relaxed atmosphere in a relevant environment with optional entertainment.
