Have you got the post-Olympic blues? Don’t worry, another sporting bonanza is on its way. The 2012 Paralympics are coming.
Starting on 29th August, it promises to be just as inspiring as the Olympics, and another showcase for Britain’s athletes to compete against the world’s best for the ultimate prize.
In London, more than 4200 athletes from over 160 countries will compete in 500 competitions between 29th August and 9th September.
And at Assured Events, we are confident that Team GB can continue the success from the Olympic Games. We have identified these three inspirational Team GB athletes who we think will win gold. Look out for them over the next couple of weeks.
Darren Kenny, Cycling
Darren is an Olympic legend from the 2008 Beijing Games where he won 4 Gold medals and 1 Silver, and has received an OBE since then. He will be competing in a number of cycling events, and we can’t wait to see him in the road race, one of the few cycling events that GB didn’t win at the Olympics!
Simon Munn, Basketball
One of the most brutal Paralympic events is the basketball – contact is frequent and violent. Simon is a British basketball legend, although the Gold medal has so far eluded him. We think that 2012 will be the year when he will find Gold, after bronze medals in Athens and Beijing and a silver at Atlanta.
Susie Rodgers, Swimming
Although a relative new comer to elite swimming (she started elite training in 2003, but had a break between 2007 and 2010), Susie has already made a huge impact. She will be able to carry the momentum from a brilliant European Championships (5 gold medals, 1 silver and a world record!) into London 2012 and looks set to become Olympic champion.
The Paralympics are a great reason to celebrate sport, and highlight the impact that live events and a common goal can bring huge numbers of people together. Contact us to find out how we can help you to deliver engagement to meet your objectives.
