Christmas is coming, there are only 22 days to go, and there is nothing that will get you more in the festive mood than visiting a Christmas market.

To help you get into the holiday spirit, here are our favourite from around the UK and Europe.

Manchester (17th November 23rd December):

The Manchester Christmas market has a real international feel to it, with Dutch pancakes, Hungarian goulash and German bratwurst.  But it’s not all food and mulled wine - there are a wide variety of stores selling hand crafted jewellery, handbags and clothes.  A fantastic place to get into the Christmas spirit next to the iconic Manchester Town Hall.

Vienna (17th November 24th December):

There are few more Christmassy cities in the world than Vienna.  Often coated in snow in December, there are a number of markets across the city, but our favourite is in the City Hall park.  There are 150 stands where you can pick up last minute gifts and as you would expect in Mozart’s home city, music plays a huge part in the celebrations with bands playing on virtually every street corner.

London (16th November 24th December):

All eyes have been on the capital for most of this year following the incredible Olympic Games and Christmas in London does not disappoint.  The best Christmas market is at the South Bank near the London Eye.  There is plenty for the kids to do with a fairground and lots of stalls, food and mulled wine for the adults.  In all, a great place to spend the evening in one of the most exciting cities in the world.

Munich (30th November 24th December):

For the authentic German market experience, why not head out to Munich?  The Christkindlmarkt is the authentic Christmas market hosting arts, crafts, food and entertainment.  It is open from 10am until 9pm and is a great romantic get-away that is only a couple of hours from the UK.

Liverpool (24th November – 22nd December):

2012 sees the sixth year of the Liverpool Christmas market and this year there are over 50 stalls selling all kinds of hand-crafted goods.  It’s got mulled wine, German beers, bratwurst, crepes and a fantastic atmosphere that you could only find in Liverpool.

Stephanie recently visited Berlin and the Christmas markets there. Keep an eye out for our next blog to read all about it!
