We love Christmas at home and everything that goes with it!  However, many people choose to go overseas to celebrate their Christmas.  Here are five of our favourite locations to spend Christmas if it’s not in front of a James Bond film in the UK!

Verona, Italy – Verona is the home of Romeo and Juliet, so you can expect high levels of romanticism!  At Christmas there are fireworks from the castle at Arco, but the most spectacular view is over Lake Garda.  The ‘Nativity of the Lake’ tells the Christmas story with characters being let from under the water – it is very moving and absolutely spectacular.

Prague, Czech Republic – Prague is a great mix of old and new and at Christmas this is even more pronounced.  The Old Town Square holds traditional Christmas markets, and Wenceslas Square is the home of the best parties.  Christmas Eve is a massive party night for the city, with the 25th and 26th traditionally the family days.  Given Prague’s central location, it’s very easy to arrange a multi-stop break – Budapest and Vienna are just short flights away.

Sydney, Australia – If the cold weather is starting to get you down for Christmas, what about spending it on the beach with Factor 50 sun cream, a barbecue and a beer?  Bondi Beach’s idea of a Christmas party is the ‘Sunburnt Christmas’, a huge celebration on the beach.  A barbecue on Christmas Day might sound a bit odd when compared to roast turkey, but it is a superb (and very warm) experience!

New York City, USA – There are fewer more iconic Christmas sights than the Rockerfeller Centre at Christmas.  The huge Christmas tree carries a remarkable 8km of Christmas lights!  The skating rink outside the centre is open over Christmas and is a must.  Christmas in New York has also been the back drop for so many iconic films – Elf, Scrooged and Miracle on 34th Street – so you’ll feel like you’re on a film set at the most wonderful time of the year.

Lapland, Finland – Nothing says Christmas like a visit to Santa’s home in Lapland.  Over the last few years, this has become a destination for many people looking to find the real Santa, and accommodation options are very varied – hotels, lean-to shelters or our favourite, an igloo!  Lapland offers unspoilt landscape, a magical atmosphere and a lot of snow – what could be more Christmassy?

The end of the year celebrations allow you to recognise the efforts of your teams or your customers, and these locations are some of the best in the world at this time of the year.  Contact us to see how we can make your Christmas wishes come true.
