The Coolest Bars in Liverpool

Liverpudlian's are renowned for their love of dressing up and throwing a party, coupled with the city's rich musical history and vibrant culture, it has all the ingredients for a fantastic night out.

Event coordinator, Emily visited Liverpool a couple of weeks ago to uncover some of the cities hidden gems:

Lucha Libre and Maya Bar:

Lucha Libre

Lucha Libre is a newly opened Mexican restaurant, serving fantastic dishes in the heart of the thriving Ropeworks area of the city.

An eclectic yet contemporary venue, your orders will be taken via iPad and your drink served in a paint pot!

Downstairs from the restaurant, is Maya, a cocktail bar lined with snug booths that boasts a dark underground feel and a great atmosphere.

Santa Chupitos:

Santa Chupitos

Just two minutes walk from Lucha Libre is Santa Chupitos.  With half-slit shutter windows, the non descript exterior hides a unique world of quirky cocktail concoctions.  All the cocktails are created in house with a regularly changing menu. Emily sampled the ‘$5 Shake’ – a cocktail with spirits, blueberries and vanilla ice cream all served in an old fashioned milk bottle!

El Bandito:

El Bandito

Emily’s favourite bar of the weekend and as a specialist tequila bar built in the former storage area of Santa Chupitos, the quirkiest (and cosiest) bar she has ever been to!

El Bandito's sell over 50 different varieties of tequila, and has a cocktail menu that changes every week.  Drinks are finished in a unique way and served with a variety of extras such as popcorn and hundreds and thousands!  If you are spoilt for choice, the bar staff are excellent and there to help find the right drink for you.

Stop Press!

We have found a new great bar in Liverpool and just had to share it with you.

Its called Salt Dog Slims, and is from the same group as Santa Chupitos and El Bandito as featured in the above blog.

Salt Dog Slims, Liverpool

Salt Dog Slim’s is located on Seel Street in the city centre.  It serves chilli dogs for those with the munchies, as well as bespoke cocktails and a very wide selection of beers.  We recommend one of the excellent German Pilsners which we are pleased to report come in steins!

The atmosphere is pretty laid back, and as the bar is relatively small, the ambience is great.

There is also a secret VIP lounge upstairs called 81 LTD, and if you get onto the list, you will be sent a code in advance which allows you entry via the door located at the top of the stairs – love the mystery of this, and it really makes you want to get in there!

It is well worth a visit, and if you get into the VIP area, let us know how it is!
